The former vice-presidential candidate weighed in on the global debate over the Federal Reserve's $600 billion (£373 billion) plan to buy up government debt, and suggested Chairman Ben Bernanke should "cease and desist."

In a speech to a trade association in Phoenix, Mrs Palin said: "We shouldn't be playing around with inflation. We don't want temporary, artificial economic growth bought at the expense of permanently higher inflation, which will erode the value of our incomes and our savings." national inflation association
Mrs Palin is widely seen as a potential candidate in the 2012 presidential race and her remarks came less than two weeks after Karl Rove, the former senior adviser to George W Bush, questioned whether she had the "gravitas" for the office.
