Jason Garrett will get the first crack at replacing Wade Phillips as the Cowboys' head coach -- Garrett was named the interim coach after Phillips was fired Monday.
But word is that the Cowboys plan to hold a full-scale coaching search once the 2010 season ends. So who else might be considered for the Dallas job? A look at some potential candidates:
• Bill Cowher: His name has seemingly surfaced for every rumored job opening since he stepped down from the Pittsburgh job following the 2006 season. The reasons are obvious: Cowher is a no-nonsense coach who's enjoyed great success at the NFL level, while also commanding the utmost respect from his players. The problem here could be Cowher's personality, which might clash with Jerry Jones' desire to meddle in the team's day-to-day affairs. Bill cowher
