Yet again, we have proof of Manchester United’s desire and endeavor. For the best part of 80 minutes, they were under pressure, and yet, they smash and grabbed it at the very end. Without being biased, it is fair to say that when you play against United, 90 minutes is a very long time.
Credit should obviously be given to Valencia for the quality of their play. For the great majority of the game, it felt as if a team were going to nick it, it would be them. The quality of their crosses from the wing, especially in the second half, was world class and the full backs, especially Miguel, made life difficult for United.
Roberto Soldado got some great service, and will be disappointed he did not put at least one chance away, although, at times, United, playing their first choice back four after a long time, defended rather well, especially in the second half when the wingers were getting a lot of balls into the box.
